Chapter 50 The Eastern Cottage, Azumaya

Ukifune is the daughter of The Eighth Prince and Chujonokimi, who was serving the Prince. She had a suitor, but he was only aiming for the wealth of her foster father. After the engagement was broken off, Ukifune went to live with Nakanokimi, but at one point Prince Niou catches a glimpse of her and promptly tries to make advances toward her. The surprised mother moves Ukifune to her small house in Sanjo. Kaoru learns about this and takes Ukifune in, moving her to Uji. Kaoru loves Ukifune, but cannot help crying as he remembers the visage of Oigimi.
